Skye Photography Workshop (5th - 9th November) 2019

This 4 night / 4 day workshop on Skye will be amazing.  Skye is one of the most stunning locations in the UK and in November it is quieter and there are less midges! We will be staying at the awesome Cowshed pod accommodation in Uig - as featured in my YouTube series from winter 2017 in Scotland.  Trust me you won't want to leave your pod once you have settled in.

(Anybody wishing to not pay in full can pay a deposit of £250 by contacting me here)

I enjoyed every minute of my workshop with Nigel. His passion, enthusiasm, and technical knowledge made for a great day, and I learnt a great deal from him. I would strongly recommend a workshop with Nigel...a great experience

An Amazing Location at a stunning time of the year

Skye, the largest of the Inner Hebrides is a unique and truely amazing location!  It is world famous and has some of Scotland's most iconic scenery.  This workshop will be a small group (no more than 4) lead by myself exploring the amazing opportunities Skye has to offer.

We will visit some of the locations in my 2017 YouTube episodes from Skye.  These will include Quiraing, The Storr, Fairy Pools, Kilt Rock, Neist Point, Elgol and Loch Coruisk to name the highlights.

Start to take photos you want to hang on your wall

My workshops are aimed at any level of photographer who is looking to improve their photography.  Either beginners looking to understand the basics and improve, through to advanced photographers looking to find some great locations or rekindle their enthusiasm and inspiration.  The key aim of our time together is to have fun and enjoy being outdoors whilst leaving inspired to take photos that you want to hang on your wall

I believe that if you want to improve your photography you need to be in the right mindset.  I will show you how I take less photos but end up with more keepers and photos to hang on the wall

I will talk you through what I use as the 4 key elements to producing great image.

  • Composition

  • Light

  • Subject

  • Timing

As we wonder through the landscape I will also chat to you about the technical aspects of photography.  Understanding your camera and settings but keeping it simple. I will help with this throughout the day on the technical aspects depending you your requirements.  Typical areas that I work with are the exposure triangle of f-stop, ISO and shutter speed.

I also can help with appropriate use of filters.  I think that getting the image correct in camera at the time of shoot is a good practice and helps you spend less time sat at a computer and more time out in the fresh air improving your photography.

Workshop Key Features

  • Small group size. Maximum of 4 people - so lots of 1-2-1 time

  • Transport provided throughout Skye on the 4 days (in XC90 with snow tyres should the need arise)

  • Visit locations you have seen in my videos on Skye and more

  • Easy / Moderate walking at a pace that works for everyone. (There will be a few steeper climbs like up to The Storr)

Be inspired! What you will get out of the day

Apart from some awesome images here are a few of the other benefits that a workshop can provide

  • Help with composition and how to find unique angles

  • Help with understanding light and how it can impact on the mood of the image

  • Understand the key technical elements, demystifying the often overwhelming array of camera settings (focus, exposure, histogram, lenses, tripod, filters)

  • Dedicated time to slow down and think more carefully about taking fewer but better images

  • How to visualise an image and then see that through to the final print

  • An understanding of how to effectively get the most out of your image in post processing with Lightroom

If you’re looking to improve your photography regardless of your experience Nigel is your man, he is so passionate about photography it really rubs off on you, plus his knowledge & experience is top class, that coupled with his sincere and humble personality made for a profound experience. I will be returning for more!
